Forms and automations on your phone

Forms and automations on your phone: make a sign-up form, share its link or QR code, read submissions, and start, build and turn on automations.

Product overview: SendBeam mobile app

View as Markdown

A sign-up form brings new people in, and an automation greets and follows them up, so the two often go together. Both are under Your tools and Create on Home.

Make a sign-up form

  1. On Home, tap Sign-up Form under Create, or New sign-up form in Forms.
  2. Write the headline (such as Join our list), a line or two for the page, and the button's words (such as Sign me up).
  3. Choose whether to ask for their first name, and a list to add them to. A list with double opt-in asks them to confirm by email first.
  4. Give it a name only your team sees, and tap Create.

The form is a hosted page: you don't need a website. To change its design, or embed it on your site, use the form builder on the web (see Forms).

Share it

Share Form (or Share Link or QR Code on a form) gets you sign-ups. Anyone who fills it in joins your contacts.

  • Link — Copy it, Share the Link to any app, or See the Form.
  • QR Code — for a poster, a counter or a slide. Point a phone's camera at it to open the form. Share QR Code saves or sends it as an image.

Forms and submissions

Forms lists every form with its submissions and views, and whether it's active or off. Open one to see its submissions, views and conversion, and its recent submissions. Tap a submission to read what was sent; for a contact form, Reply by Email answers it from your mail app.

Start an automation

Tap Automation under Create on Home, or New automation in Automations. Nothing sends until you turn it on. Start from:

  • A recipe — ready-made automations, such as a welcome series (three emails over a week), an email on each birthday, reminders before a date, a check-in with quiet contacts, a thank-you after someone buys, or a follow-up to form sign-ups. Read More says how it works. Answer its few questions (which list, which form, which tag) and tap Create.
  • Build Your Own — choose each step yourself.
  • Ask the Assistant — describe it and get a draft. See The Assistant.

Build your own

  1. Choose what starts it: someone new is added, someone fills in a form, someone joins a list, or someone gets a tag. Then pick which form, list or tag, or any.
  2. Add steps with Add a Step: Send an Email (a subject and the words; a blank line starts a new paragraph), Wait (hours, days or weeks, from 1 hour to a year), Add a Tag, Remove a Tag or Add to a List.
  3. Use a step's menu to move it up or down, or remove it.
  4. Name it and tap Create. It's made switched off.

Branches, webhooks and the other advanced steps are built on the web (see Building automations). An automation made there opens in the app with all its steps, and you can turn it on or pause it from the phone.

Turn it on

Open the automation and tap Turn On. The app asks you to confirm: from then on it sends to contacts who meet its trigger. If something has to be fixed first, the app lists it under Before it can turn on. Pause Automation stops it again.

The Automations list shows each one as Active, Paused or Draft, and marks one that needs attention, for example when its trigger needs fixing on the web.

The Assistant

The Assistant (under Create on Home) makes things from a sentence. Choose what to make, or leave it on Anything:

  • An email — such as Tell my newsletter list about our summer sale.
  • An automation — such as Welcome new subscribers with three emails.
  • A segment — such as People who opened but never clicked. It shows how many match now.

You see a draft before anything is saved. Reply to change it, or tap Create Draft to save it. Emails and automations are saved as drafts; segments open on the web after saving. The Assistant needs writing with AI to be on for the workspace.
